What We Found
Two-Phase Luxury Gutter & Fascia System Transformation
Some projects are about replacing worn-out gutters. Others are complete exterior transformations that require careful coordination between multiple trades, custom fabrication, and meticulous attention to detail. Our South Saddle Lane project in Beavercreek, Oregon was exactly that.

This large custom home and detached shop were undergoing a complete exterior upgrade, beginning with the replacement of an aging composite shingle roof with a premium engineered aluminum roofing system designed to replicate the appearance of traditional cedar shake. The new roof represented a significant investment in the property, and the homeowner wanted a gutter system that matched both the performance and appearance of the new roofing.
Rather than simply installing new gutters, this project required reimagining the roof edge itself.

Working alongside the roofing contractor, Ironclad Gutter Co. completed the project in two carefully planned phases, transforming an outdated drainage system into a fully integrated, premium rainwater management solution designed to last for decades.

The Challenge
Starting with an Outdated Gutter System
The home and shop were originally equipped with aging steel fascia-style gutters that had reached the end of their service life. Years of exposure to Oregon's weather had left the gutters rusting, deteriorating, and no longer capable of protecting the home as intended.
The buildings also lacked one important feature that many modern homes include: There was no fascia board.
Instead, the existing gutters were mounted directly to exposed rafter tails, a construction style commonly found on older homes but one that limits future design flexibility and creates challenges when installing modern gutter systems.
Since the homeowner was already investing in a complete roof replacement, it created the perfect opportunity to permanently improve the roofline before the new roofing system was installed.
Creating a Clean Start for Proper Drainage.
Phase One: Building an Entirely New Roof Edge
The first phase of the project focused on preparing the home for its new roofing and gutter system.
After carefully removing the existing gutters from both the house and the detached shop, our crew installed approximately 450 linear feet of premium Belco treated 2x8 fascia board. Unlike a standard fascia replacement, this home had no fascia board to begin with, so every section was being added from scratch.
The roofing contractor modified the roof edge specifically to accommodate the new fascia system, allowing the home to transition from exposed rafter tails to a clean, finished architectural appearance.
This dramatically changed both the appearance and functionality of the property.
Before installation, every fascia board was professionally painted to match the future gutter system. The selected finish—Almond—was color matched to the seamless aluminum gutters that would be installed after roofing was complete, creating a cohesive appearance where the fascia and gutter system appear as one continuous architectural feature.
This level of preparation is uncommon on residential projects and reflects the careful planning required when multiple trades work together toward a single finished result.

Returning to Complete the System.

Returning After the Roof Installation
Once the premium engineered aluminum roofing system had been completed, our crew returned to begin the second phase. With the new roof in place, we installed a complete seamless 6-inch aluminum gutter system across both the home and the detached shop.

The finished installation included:
-
Seamless 6K aluminum gutters
-
2x3 aluminum downspouts
-
Downspout cleanouts throughout the property
-
Premium Leaf Solution Xtreme Gutter Guard system
-
Custom-painted Almond finish matched to the fascia boards
-
Precision gutter slope for maximum drainage performance

The result was a modern gutter system designed not only to complement the new roof aesthetically, but also to significantly outperform the original steel gutter system.
Less Debris. Better Flow.
Custom Gutter Guards for a One-of-a-Kind Roof
Perhaps the most technically demanding portion of this project involved the gutter protection system. The homeowner selected the premium Leaf Solution Xtreme Gutter Guard system, a high-performance aluminum gutter screen designed for long-term durability and effective debris management.

Normally, gutter guard installation follows a fairly consistent process.
This roof did not. Because of the specialized engineered roofing panels, the roofing contractor fabricated a custom Z-style flashing along the roof edge. Rather than fitting beneath conventional roofing materials, every section of gutter guard had to terminate precisely within this custom flashing profile while remaining securely fastened to the front edge of the gutter.

There was no factory solution. Every single section of gutter guard had to be individually measured, hand-cut, and precision-fit before installation. Hundreds of custom cuts were required throughout the project. Each piece was carefully sheared by hand to create a perfect fit within the unique roof system while maintaining a clean finished appearance and preserving proper water flow into the gutters.
Projects like this demand patience and craftsmanship that simply cannot be rushed.

More Capacity. Better Control.
Designed For Performance.
While appearance was important, long-term performance remained the priority. The new 6K seamless gutters provide substantially greater water-carrying capacity than the original steel fascia gutters while resisting corrosion throughout Oregon's wet climate.

Properly sloped gutters ensure water moves efficiently toward the outlets instead of remaining inside the system.

The new 2x3 downspouts provide dependable drainage while integrated cleanouts make future maintenance significantly easier by allowing underground drain lines to be serviced without dismantling the downspouts.
Together, every component works as part of a complete rainwater management system engineered to protect the home's roofline, siding, landscaping, and foundation.
Complex Coordination. Seamless Execution.
Precision From Start to Finish
This project extended over multiple phases and required close coordination between our team and the roofing contractor.

Because each stage depended on the successful completion of the previous one, scheduling and communication were just as important as installation quality. The property's large footprint, exceptionally steep rooflines, numerous roof transitions, and detached shop meant that nearly every portion of the project required careful planning. Rather than treating the work as a standard gutter installation, every detail—from the fascia construction to the custom-painted finishes and individually fabricated gutter guards—was completed with the level of precision expected on a luxury home.

The result is a project where the complexity is largely invisible to the casual observer. What homeowners notice is a clean, cohesive roofline. What experienced contractors notice is the craftsmanship required to make it possible.

A Complete System. A Lasting Solution.
The Result

Today, the South Saddle Lane property features a completely transformed roof edge that combines premium materials with thoughtful design and expert installation.
The addition of new Belco treated fascia boards modernized the home's architecture while creating a strong foundation for the new gutter system. The custom-painted Almond finish provides a seamless transition between the fascia and the gutters, while the premium engineered aluminum roof, seamless 6K gutters, custom-installed Leaf Solution Xtreme Gutter Guards, oversized drainage system, and integrated cleanouts work together as a complete exterior water management solution.

The project not only improved the appearance of the property but also delivered a drainage system designed to protect the investment for decades to come.
