GUTTER GUARDS
Ironclad Gutter Co. delivers exceptional reliability and precision. We make it easy for our clients to relax while expecting outstanding results, both aesthetically and functionally.

GUTTER GUARDS & CLEANING
Gutter guards (also known as leaf guards, gutter covers, etc) come in various forms, some more effective than others. Their basic function is to prevent leaves, pine needles, pinecones, small branches, and other organic materials from entering the gutter and causing clogs.

To maintain your gutter system's functionality, the gutters need to be routinely cleaned. We recommend gutter cleaning at least bi-annually if you have any trees within 50 ft. of your home. Usually, 3-4 times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring) is more appropriate in the Portland & and Vancouver metropolitan area.

If you're interested in reducing your gutter maintenance costs, gutter guards are an option.
OUR GUTTER GUARDS
There are various forms of gutter guards (AKA leaf guards, gutter covers, gutter filters, gutter hoods, etc) on the market. They come in a wide range of levels of effectiveness and cost. Some of these products are very cheap and ineffective (foam and brush variants), while others are more expensive and have variable effectiveness (micromesh and perforated metal).

Our preferred product is made of perforated sheet metal. They strike a good balance between cost and effectiveness. They have very similar performance to micromesh guards (like Leafblaster) but are significantly less expensive.

THE GUTTER GUARD MYTH
Some companies claim that their gutter guards permanently eliminate the need for gutter cleaning. We at Ironclad Gutter Co. apologize for the bad name these companies give our industry.
Those claims are simply false. Even the most effective gutter guards need to be cleaned off periodically. This can be done by the homeowner from the ground using a gutter guard brush (which we supply with every gutter guard installation).
If the guards are not cleaned, any accumulated leaves will gradually decay and disintegrate, eventually causing the guards to become clogged.
In typical cases, gutter guards should be wiped off twice per year (more if you live in a heavily forested area). The guards will also need to be removed to clean the gutters once every 10 years or so.
